According to Dictionary.com the word random means "proceeding, made, or occurring without definite aim, reason, or pattern." This definition was accurate a few years ago. The only time the word really came up was when you were playing a video game, and you wanted the game to choose the character/level for you to play.

Now, the definition has changed. If I had to define the word now, I'd say it means "acting like a giant douchebag." The word random is one of the most improperly overused words in the English language. I'll give some examples:

"Come look at my random pictures." - You'll hear girls say this all the time. Every time you actually go look at the photos, it's her and her friends sitting around on her couch or in someone's basement playing beerpong. Those pictures are random, it's not like you do that everyday of your inane lives.

"We're just being random" - Usually the response you'll get if you approach a group of girls at a bar or party. You ladies are being random, really? It's Saturday night, and you're at a party. You're right, I bet no other college girls on the planet are doing that.

"That night was filled with randomness" - Blah, blah, blah, I'm an idiot.

I hear this word so many times a day it makes me physically ill. If you are one of those idiots that say random all the time, stop. You sound like a fool and you make me sick. If you're surrounded by people who use random every time they need an adjective, punch them.
